Bosque Village is a combination of campground, eco-retreat center and perma-culture farm community offering a variety of retreats, events, and personal programs. The sustainable community is located in the area of Erongaricuaro, Michoacan, a small artist’s town, 20 minutes from Patzcuaro,
Bosque Village’s rustic cabanas have comfy beds in dorm-style lodging. Private cabaña space is possible, depending on availability. Accommodations have composting toilets. Nights get cool in the mountains so bring along a warm sweater or pick up a poncho at the local market.
Guests also have a choice of the Beltane Hut. Book early – the cob hut is very popular. The character hut has a small fireplace, desk and double bed. Another hut is under construction.
Arcoiris Casita, the main building, has a communal space for relaxing and showering, a fireplace, indoor and outdoor stove, kitchen and a large outdoor terraza with forest views and patio seating.
The property has two libraries – the Kaizen Library has a collection of educational books pertaining to permaculture, ecological living, nutrition, spirituality and art. The Casita Library is dedicated to fiction and educational books.
Three creative, nutritional vegetarian meals a day are included in the rate. Cooking classes are available for guests that want to learn how to prepare tortillas and traditional Mexican breads. Dietary preferences and allergies are taken into consideration with advance notice.
The wood-burning sauna seats up to 12 people. Centro Jobutsu, a spiritual center located at the Bosque, hosts temazcals (a traditional pre-Hispanic healing ritual similar to a sweat lodge).
Guests can do as much or little as they wish at the Bosque*. Some guests prefer the freedom of being in nature and doing what comes along while others prefer a more structured schedule.
